Julia Boutros (born April 1, 1968 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese singer .

Life

Boutros was born in Beirut into a Christian-Maronite family. Her father comes from Tire and the mother from Palestine with Armenian roots. She also has a brother named Ziad Boutros.

First she went to the "Rosary Sister Schools" in Beirut and sang in the school choir. At the age of 12 she recorded her first song with French lyrics under the title "A Maman" in the "Elias Al Rahbani Studios". The whole thing was initiated by her music teacher at the time, Fouad Fadel. There were two more songs with the title "C'est la Vie" and "Viens dans ma Vie". At 17 she sang her most important song "Ghabed Shams el Hak". She married in 1996 and gave birth to their first child in 1997.

In the course of her singing career, Boutros took sides several times for political movements and people. In 2006 she released the single "Ahibaii" (My Beloved), the text of which was written by the Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah . She donated part of the proceeds from her songs to families of victims of the 2006 Lebanon War . She also supported resistance groups against Israel in the Gaza Strip with her songs . During the civil war in Syria , she sided with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad .

Boutros is married to the former Lebanese minister of education Elias Abu Saab and has two sons.
