Julia Dorothea Kehr (born January 7, 1970 ) is a German biologist and professor of molecular plant genetics at the University of Hamburg .

Career

Julia Kehr received a diploma in biology in 1994 from the Justus Liebig University in Giessen . In 1999 she did her doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Plant Physiology in Potsdam-Golm and worked there from 2000 to 2008 as a research assistant and group leader. In 2006 she completed her habilitation in the field of molecular plant physiology and then worked as a private lecturer in plant physiology and biophysics at the University of Potsdam . In 2008 she received a professorship in biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and was in charge of the proteomics laboratory at the Bio Center for Plant Genomics and Biotechnology. Julia Kehr has been Professor of Molecular Plant Genetics at the University of Hamburg since 2013 and received the Hamburg Teaching Award from the University of Hamburg in 2014. Julia Kehr has held the position of Vice Dean for Research and Equality in the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences since 2015.

Research priorities

Julia Kehr researches the elucidation of the structure and function of proteins and macromolecule complexes in long-distance transport systems and their function in systemic signal transmission in the event of abiotic stress and infections.
