Julian Blake

Julian Blake , also Bud Blake , (* 1918 in the USA ; † December 26, 2005 in Boston ) was an American cartoonist and comic strip artist.

Life

Julian “Bud” Blake developed the award-winning comic strip “Tiger”, which appeared in various newspapers around the world (in German-speaking countries also under the title “Leo”). Tiger was voted Best Comic Strip by the National Cartoonists Society in 1970, 1978 and 2000 . Blake processed his childhood experiences in his comic and continued to draw until he was 85. Prior to his comic book career, Blake was the art director of an advertising agency.

Blake left behind his son Julian Blake and his daughter Mariane.
