Julian Marley

Julian Ricardo Marley (born June 4, 1975 in London ) is a British - Jamaican roots reggae musician and lead singer of his band The Uprising Band . He is a son of reggae musician Bob Marley ; his mother is Lucy Pounder, with whom he initially grew up in England.

After recording his first song with his family at the age of five, he released his first album Uprising in 1989 , which later became the name of his band. In 1992, after moving to Jamaica, he worked with Aston Barrett , Earl "Wire" Lindo, Tyrone Downie and Earl "Chinna" Smith , among others .

His album Awake was nominated for the Grammy 2010 in the category "Best Reggae Album". It wasn't until ten years later that another album followed with As I Am , which was again nominated for a Grammy .
