Juliana of Norwich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Juliana von Norwich , English Julian of Norwich (* around 1342 in England , † after 1413 in Norwich ), was an English mystic .

Life

Juliana von Norwich was a recluse and probably lived in St. Julian's Church in Norwich and experienced 16 mystical openings about the life of Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity during a serious illness in 1373 . Twenty years later she reported it in her book The Revelations of Divine Love ( Revelations of Divine Love ).

The most important source about their origins and their living conditions are the information given in the Revelations of Divine Love . Your writings suggest a well-founded biblical and also theological knowledge. Her revelations have been written down in two versions: a shorter version is usually dated earlier and still contains many biographical details and information, while the later, second version, was worked through theologically. In this second scripture everything is directed towards God's salvation will towards all people.

Her most famous sentence comes from the revelations , and it has entered the treasure trove of quotations not only from English-speaking cultures:

"All shall be well and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well."

"Everything will be fine, and everyone will be fine, and all kinds of things will be fine."
