Julie Andem (born July 4, 1982 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian director and screenwriter . She was best known for the youth series Skam , where she both wrote the script and directed.

On a six-month trip through Norway, she asked young people about their lives in order to get inspiration for the series Skam . The youth series was a great success on Norwegian radio and was therefore remade in other countries. Andem was involved in some of the adaptations. For example, she worked as a producer , writer and director on the US adaptation Skam Austin . She also worked as a scriptwriter on the French and Spanish versions. For her work on the original version, Andem was personally nominated a total of four times for the Norwegian television award Gullruten from 2016 to 2018. In 2017 it won in the category "Best Screenplay - Drama" and in the category "Best Director - Drama".

As of September 2018, her script for the Norwegian version of Skam was published in book form. Each season got its own book and it also contains discarded scenes and Andems comments.

In October 2019 it was announced that Julie Andem had signed a two-year contract with the US television program provider HBO to develop new programs for the station.
