Julio Ituarte
Julio Ituarte (born May 15, 1845 in Mexico City , † September 15, 1905 there ) was a Mexican composer and pianist.
As a child, Ituarte was a student of José María Oviedo and Agustín Balderas and later of Tomás León and Melesio Morales . At the age of fourteen he made his debut in a concert at the Gran Teatro Nacional . In 1865 he taught at the Music Academy, from which the Conservatorio de Música emerged a year later . From 1866 until his death he taught at the Conservatorio, with one interruption from 1885 to 1897. Musicians like Felipe Villanueva and Ricardo Castro Herrera were among his students .
Ituarte composed two zarzuelas , choral works and songs , piano music in the tradition of Schumann and Liszt as well as numerous piano arrangements of works by other composers.
