Julio Velasco
Julio Velasco (born February 9, 1952 in La Plata , Argentina ) is an Argentine volleyball coach .
Life
Julio Velasco started playing volleyball at the age of 15. With the youth team of the La Plata University Club team, he won the youth club championship in 1969 and 1970 and was voted best youth player of the year.
Coaching career
Velasco coached the Italian men's national volleyball team from 1989 to 1996. Under him, she won silver at the 1996 Olympic Games , two world championships (1990 and 1994), three European championships (1989, 1993 and 1995), one World Cup (1995) and five world leagues Title (1990, 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1995). From 1997 to 1998 he coached the Italian national women's volleyball team .
In 2003 Velasco was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".
