Julius Schnitzler (entrepreneur)
Julius Schnitzler (* 1806 ; † 1884 ) was a factory owner, alderman, member of the district council and promoter of the evangelical community of Opladen and was made an honorary citizen of this town in 1872. After Opladen was incorporated, honorary citizenship was transferred to Leverkusen .
Schnitzler was one of the protagonists in the dispute between the denominations in Opladen and was the holder of the fourth class Red Eagle Order .
In 1839 Schnitzler built up the spinning mill and screw factory Ulenberg and Schnitzler together with Wilhelm and Julius Ulenberg, and in 1844 he became the first director of today's municipal Sparkasse Leverkusen .
