Gameplay

In the game you could run and jump with your character. For this figure you had the choice between the characters Toff and Klonk. The Toff looked like a cross between a human and a bear with a broad torso, the Klonk was a rectangular robot. The game world consisted of four moons (Taygete, Themisto, Metis and Ananke), each of which was divided into several levels, which in turn were each assigned to one of three categories: Quest, Fun or Battle. There were 23 quests, in each of which you could activate checkpoints that improved the jumping power, the speed or the protection of the figure. There were also five FUN levels where you could jump around for fun, but there were no checkpoints. Battle levels could consist of a race against other players or a fight for a control checkpoint. There was also a space park where players could build easier or more difficult levels themselves and then publish them for everyone. In a space park level there were a maximum of three checkpoints, each of which earned the player 50 JupiterPoints. With these JupiterPoints you could increase your level, the number of points required per level to be advanced increases steadily. Going up a level gave the player the benefit of more health and reputation within the game. There was no bonus for a level up.

There were two currencies in the game . One of them was Thebe, the other is called Jupiter Coins (JuCos). They could be used for shopping in the various Monde shops. Thebe could be found in "Bonuses" and won at jackpots that existed on every planet in every quest, except in the tutorial. Jackpots ended on a regular cycle that could range from an hour (The Journey Begins) to four weeks (Autumn Garden). Whose name stood above the jackpot in the end, thebe won. This could be won both in a team and alone, with the profit being shared among the team. The win of a jackpot increased the more bonuses were collected with Thebe in the level. JuCos could only be collected in the bonuses. But both currencies could also be bought for real money.

Bonuses

Bonuses were small round balls with either Items, Thebe or Juco. They were opened by jumping on them, bombing them or throwing them down from higher platforms. There were bonuses with spikes that damaged the figure when touched. These usually contained more valuable or more items than the bonuses without spikes, which, however, were easier to open.

Shop (dealer)

In the in-game shop you could buy items for the two currencies mentioned above (Thebe & Juco) that made it easier to play, embellished your own character or gave you an advantage over other players. In addition to various weapons, such as jump devils, bombs or slime, you could also buy icons, gifts for other players, moves for your own character, pets and artifacts in various sub-categories.

Explanation:

  • Weapons: In Jump Jupiter you fought against other players and monsters with a wide variety of weapons . Some freeze opponents, others let them bounce uncontrollably or just injure them.
  • Icons: These "embellished" your own character. They were various symbols that were depicted on the chest of the toff or clone. There are icons that only clonks could wear and icons that only toffs could wear.
  • Gifts: These were various items that could be given to friends or other players. They were called Ü-box.
  • Moves: (English for "movement / s") With these the character could do various special things, which were of a purely optical nature.
  • Pets: (English for pets) These pets followed the player every step of the way through the levels as soon as they were bought and selected in the menu. They had no particular use, they just looked pretty. An exception to this were three compass pets, which took the player to special items (checkpoints, superb bonuses, artifacts).
  • Artifacts: These included the antifreeze, the two portal pieces, the mushroom key, the two beetle talisman pieces, and four rocket propulsion pieces. You needed this to land on the moons Themisto, Metis and Ananke and to unlock very special levels. They were hidden in the levels. However, some had to be bought in the shop or they were given to other players as a gift.
  • Camouflages: You could buy camouflages that could be used to hide for a certain period of time
