Jungėnai is the largest village in Kalvarija Municipality , on the Marijampolė - Kalvarija road (No. KK201), 3 km northeast of Kalvarija town in Lithuania . It is the center of the sub-district ( Seniūnaitija ). In the southern part there is Lake Janavo . Jungėnai village has 929 inhabitants (2001).
At the village there is Lakinskai castle . In the 19th century the village was called Janavas , Janava , Jonava and was the center of Wolost . In 1934 a primary school was founded. It became the Jungėnai Secondary School. From 1950 Jungėnai was the central settlement of "Banga" kolkhoz .
