Jungian type index

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jungian Type Index or JTI (Jungian Type Indicator) is an alternative to the MBTI . It was published in 2001 by Optimas and developed over a period of 10 years by the Norwegian psychologists Thor Ødegård and Hallvard E. Ringstad. The JTI was developed to determine preferences according to the theory of Carl Gustav Jung .

classification

This describes the motivation to experience the senses. This distinction is widely used. An outside-oriented person is more sociable and willing to act, an inside-oriented person is more concentrated and more intense. One also speaks of the tendency towards breadth (E) to depth (I) of the sensory experience.
This is based on an even distribution in the population.
This describes the processing of sensory impressions, the sensory mind weights the “raw data” or immediate impressions the highest, the intuitive mind relies more on its sixth sense , that is, on its speculations and assumptions. The sensory mind is detail-oriented and more adept at precisely processing concrete information and assessing reality. The intuitive mind pays more attention to the whole than to its parts and is more adept at recognizing laws, relationships and possibilities.
It is believed that sensors make up about two-thirds to three-quarters of the population.
This describes the way decisions are made. The thinker looks at the information available to him from a rational point of view and tries to arrive at objective knowledge and optimal decisions using logic . Since he loves clarity, he strongly categorizes the sensory impressions available to him. The feeling (feeling) pays more attention to his emotions . He judges subjectively according to his feelings and primarily takes values, ideals or interpersonal aspects into account.
Here, it is assumed that the distribution is even with slightly more sensors. At the same time, this is where the greatest gender imbalance exists: it is estimated that around two thirds of thinkers are men and around two thirds of feelers are women.
  • J to P - judging to perceiving
This describes the certainty with which you make decisions and stand by them. Either you are open to new impressions and are ready to rethink your decisions and plans in favor of new information. This also means that one acts more spontaneously and can adapt to irregular circumstances more flexibly (perceiving). In contrast, there is determination. The judge already decides before he has all the information and holds fast to decisions and paths taken even under adverse circumstances. He prefers to act systematically and according to plan . If necessary, plans are adjusted, but they are reluctantly discarded completely. The judge also has a stronger tendency to dominate and control. He shows less spontaneity in action , but more discipline and consistency.
In this dimension, an approximately equal distribution can be assumed.

differences

The sample questions and the methods of the JTI differ from the competition MBTI. So were z. B. Eliminated word pairs, which can cause problems in translations.

distribution

In Denmark, JTI has almost completely replaced the MBTI. MBTI accreditations have not taken place there since 2004. This is u. a. the lower cost of accreditation with the JTI.

Outside of Scandinavia, the JTI is relatively unknown.
