Yuri Alexandrowitsch Galperin ( Russian Юрий Александрович Гальперин ; born July 12, 1947 in Leningrad ) is a Russian writer .

Life

Galperin was born the son of a jazz musician in Leningrad, attended school in that city and began studying history. His first literary publication was a play in 1972 that was performed in Leningrad. The Soviet censorship forbade any further publication from 1976, so that Galperin went into exile in Switzerland in 1979 . He lives and works in Bern .

Literary style

Galperin's books, especially Die Brücke über der Lethe, captivate with their formal features, which do not allow his texts to flow quickly, but instead require slow reading due to the constant narrative insertions of autoreflection and stylistic and temporal breaks.
