Juris Vectirāns
Juris Vectirāns (born October 16, 1953 ) is a Latvian politician and former brigadier general .
Life
Juris Vectirāns rose to the position of brigadier general in the national armed forces of his homeland after the restoration of Latvia's independence .
After retiring from military service, he became active in politics. In October 2014, Vectirāns came to the Latvian parliament ( Saeima in Latvian ) as a successor for the alliance of greens and farmers . He has been a member again since the parliamentary elections in Latvia in 2014 . In the following years he worked in the defense and migration committees and was involved in international cooperation. In the 2018 election , the Alliance of Greens and Peasants lost around half of its seats in parliament. Vectirāns was one of those who could not defend their mandate.
