Jurk! is a Dutch music and cabaret duo consisting of Jeroen van Koningsbrugge and Dennis van de Ven .
On January 8, 2010, the single Zou zo graag from the debut album Avondjurk was released . After being viewed on Twitter , Zou zo graag topped the iTunes Store hit list within two days. A few days later, the single rose to number 1 in the single Top 100. Thanks to the Twitter call, Zou zo graag made it into the Nederlandse Top 40 straight away .
Jurk! is often compared to Acda en De Munnik , as both groups are a music and cabaret duo and the musical style of both bands is very similar.
Surname
The name “Jurk!” Has an autobiographical background: Van Koningsbrugges grandmother suffered from aphasia , which meant that she could no longer pronounce many words correctly. One of the words she used a lot in different situations was jurk . By using her word as the band name, the two different moments "sad" and "funny" are expressed, which are also central to the songs and skits.
Band history
In 2001 the Duo Jurk! with the cabaret program Bakermat in appearance. Van Koningsbrugge and Van de Ven also appeared in the television shows Kannibalen and Nieuw Dier . From 2007 to 2009 inclusive, they made the satirical and absurd program Draadstaal for the VPRO . In 2010 they created the satirical program NeonLetters for AVRO . The program with the Jurk! went on tour through Dutch theaters in 2010 and 2011, was entitled Avondjurk , just like the debut album , but included dialogues and poems in addition to the songs from the album. From December 14 to 24, 2011, the duo performed at five locations with the Kerstjurk program , where they presented Christmas carols and new material. In autumn 2011 the single Kabalis was released . The second album Glitterjurk was released on February 8, 2013. Then Jurk! At the beginning of 2013 he went on a theater tour with the program of the same name, which ended on May 6, 2013 in the Carré Theater .
