Justinas Bašinskas
Justinas Bašinskas (born January 22, 1923 in Trakiškiai near Marijampolė , † October 9, 2003 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian composer .
Life
Bašinskas studied composition with Julius Juzeliūnas at the Lithuanian State Conservatory until 1955 . He then taught at the Vilnius Pedagogical University before devoting himself entirely to composition from 1968. He received the Stasys Šimkus Prize three times (1956, 1959 and 1962) and was awarded the Lithuanian State Prize in 1986.
In addition to nine symphonies and three symphonic dances, Bašinskas composed chamber music, vocal works, pieces for solo instruments and a ballet.
