The Palace of Justice in Florence is a high-rise complex in the northwestern outskirts of Novoli of the Tuscan capital that has been planned since the 1970s, but was not built until after 2000 . The building complex, which is controversial because of its size and shape, is based on a design by the architect Leonardo Ricci (1918–1994). It is located on the site of a former FIAT factory near the A11 motorway and Peretola airport and the social science center of the University of Florence . It is the second largest courthouse in Italy (after the one in Turin ).
