Jux-Brüder is a waltz by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 208). The work was performed for the first time on February 15, 1858 in the Zum Sperl dance hall .

Remarks

The country- style waltz was written for Mardi Gras in 1858 and performed in the Zum Sperl dance hall . It was the last traditional carnival event in this restaurant. A change of ownership was imminent and the future owner was planning a renovation and a reopening after which other priorities should be set. But that did not mean the end of the Strauss concerts there. The name Jux-Brüder describes a person who is ready for any adventure and who is able to turn the world upside down if necessary. A kind of jack of all trades. With this work, Johann Strauss has set a memorial to precisely such cheerful fellow citizens. After initial success, the waltz soon disappeared from the concert programs. Today the work is not played that often but occasionally.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 7 minutes and 16 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
