Károly Bartha (politician)

Vitéz Dálnokfalva Károly Bartha (born June 18, 1884 in Budapest , Austria-Hungary , † November 22, 1964 in Linz , Austria ) was a Hungarian officer and politician. He was Hungary's Minister of Defense from November 1938 to September 1942 .

Life

Bartha completed an officer training and after completing it found various uses as an officer and staff officer. Between December 1, 1924 and August 1932, he was inspector of the technical troops of the Army and was promoted to major general on May 1, 1930 . He was then from August 1932 to January 1, 1936 head of the replenishment department of the Ministry of Defense and between January 1, 1936 and November 15, 1938 head of the military department of the Ministry of Defense. As such, he was promoted to lieutenant general on May 1, 1936 and most recently served as deputy defense minister.

After his promotion to general on November 1, 1938, he replaced General Jenő Rátz as Minister of Defense (Magyarország honvédelmi miniszter) on November 15, 1938 and held this office until September 24, 1942, after which he was succeeded by General Vilmos Nagy .
