Kälviä [ ˈkælviæ ] ( Swedish Kelviå ) is a former municipality in the Finnish countryside of Middle Ostrobothnia and is now part of the city of Kokkola .

Kälviä is 18 kilometers east of the city center of Kokkola, a little inland from the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia . Besides the eponymous Kirchdorf belonged to the municipality Kälviä the villages Hilli, Honkimaa, Jatkojoki, Jokikylä, Karhulahti, Kleemola, Miekkoja, Nissi, Passoja, Peitso, Peltokorpi, Porkola, Riippa, Rimpilä, Rita, Ruotsalo, Vuolle and Välikylä. Kälviä was dissolved in 1639 as an independent parish from Kokkola. Originally it also included Ullava , which became independent in 1904. At the beginning of 2009, Kälviä was incorporated into the city of Kokkola together with Lohtaja and Ullava .

Kälviä Church is a wooden cruciform church and dates from 1905.
