Carinthian Writers' Association

The Carinthian Writers 'Association (until 2013: Carinthian Writers' Association ) was founded in 1969 to promote the artistic, economic and social interests of Carinthia's writers .

The first president was Lorenz Mack, who was replaced by Walther Nowotny in the first year. After his death in the mid-1990s, Günther Kanzian took over the management, who was finally succeeded by Gerard Kanduth in 2002 . From February 2016, Gabriele Russwurm-Biró will be the first female president to head the association.

Since 2002, the "Carinthian Writers' Association Prize for New Literature" has been announced every two years.

Since 2005, the Carinthian Writers' Association has been organizing the trilateral Alpe-Adria literature symposium at the Alte Burg in Gmünd / Carinthia every one to two years together with the Gmünd Cultural Initiative .
