Fridman's dwarf perch ( Pseudochromis fridmani ), also known as the King Solomon dwarf perch or King Solomon fish , is a small marine fish that occurs on the coasts of the Red Sea at depths of one to 60 meters.
features
The fish becomes six centimeters long. The male grows slightly larger than the female. The basic color is bright purple-violet. From the same colored porphyry dwarf perch ( Pictichromis porphyrea ), which lives in the central western Pacific, it is distinguished by a dark longitudinal line that extends from the snout through the eye to the end of the gill cover and the elongated fin rays in the lower caudal fin area, which form a small tip there, which is longer in the male.
Way of life
Fridman's dwarf perch lives very hidden on vertical rocks, under overhangs and in coral reefs at depths of one to 60 meters and feeds mainly on bottom-dwelling and pelagic crustaceans ( amphipods , copepods and sea lice ). It is frequent, not very shy and often lives in high population densities of six specimens per m² in small areas and small caves and crevices as shelter. Fridman's dwarf bass is a cave spawner . Males form harems from several females. The eggs are guarded by the male. Like all of the dwarf perch examined afterwards, Fridman's dwarf perch is a protogynous hermaphrodite, which means that after reaching sexual maturity, the fish are initially female and then become males in the further course of their lives.
