Royal Bavarian rifle factory

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Royal Bavarian Rifle Factory in Amberg was founded in 1801 in the Kingdom of Bavaria .

It was administered by the Bavarian Army from 1820 onwards . In the course of industrialization , a completely new factory was built outside the city in front of the Nabburger Tor in 1878 . Production reached its peak in the First World War with around 4,100 employed workers. The end of the factory came with the November Revolution in 1919. It was then used for civilian production of tools and compressed air equipment and was affiliated to the German works . In 1931 the German Precision Tools AG (DEPRAG) emerged.

It remained the only arms factory in Bavaria. Young officers of the Bavarian army were often assigned to her to gain a deeper insight into weapon technology and its manufacture.
