Body closure
A short circuit to the body is a conductive connection between the body and active parts of electrical equipment that is created by a fault .
A body, short or earth fault is:
- completely (directly)
- if there is no fault resistance in the circuit
- imperfect (indirect)
- if there is a fault resistance in the circuit (e.g. wet branch, internal arc )
The cause can be installation errors or defects such as broken cables .
When touched by the body end under tension set plant parts there is a risk of an electric shock . So-called protective conductors and residual current circuit breakers are used as countermeasures in electrical engineering .
