The cuirassier boots also called iron boots (English Jack Boots ) are a protective weapon from Europe .

description

The cuirassier boots were used by the cuirassiers . These boots consist of several thick layers of cowhide , which are padded with a horsehair insert . Iron or steel plates are used on the front to protect against blows with the saber . Also at the transition from the foot to the lower leg, a metal plate is attached from the outside, which is blackened or covered with leather. These plates can be made of one piece or they can be constructed from several overlapping plates (pushed). They are fixed with leather straps. At the lower end of these plates, the brackets of the spurs are usually attached, which run around the foot to the heel. The spores themselves are made of iron and are star-shaped. The upper edge of the boots is smooth or equipped with gauntlets that reach over the knee . The heels of the boots are fastened with wooden nails. The standard version of these boots is unarmoured, you can see the difference in thickness and weight.
