The Kızılay Square (Turkish Kızılay Meydanı or officially 15 Temmuz Kızılay Milli irade Meydanı ) is a central place in the district of Kızılay the Turkish capital Ankara . The name comes from a building of the city administration built in 1929. Today the square with its bus, minibus and subway connections serves as an important transport hub, meeting place and meeting point.

Due to its central location, the square was the scene of the protests in Turkey in 2013 in Ankara. On March 13, 2016, a car bomb attack with 37 deaths occurred on the square. A splinter group of the Kurdish separatist terrorist organization PKK claimed responsibility for the attack .

In recognition of the victims and large parts of the population against the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016 , the square was officially renamed “15 Temmuz Kızılay Milli İrade Meydanı” , in German “Kızılay Square of the National Will of July 15” .
