Ko Matsushita

Kō Matsushita ( Japanese 松下 耕 Matsushita Kō ; born October 16, 1962 in Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese composer and conductor .

Career

Matsushita studied composition at the Kunitachi College of Music and took part in the master class for conducting at the Kodaly Institute in Kecskemét , Hungary .

Artistic work

His compositions vary widely from works based on traditional Japanese music to classical etudes for choirs. He is currently the conductor and artistic director of 14 choirs with concerts in Japan, Europe, America, Asia and where the choirs achieved outstanding performances in international competitions.

Awards

In 2005 he was the first Asian composer to be honored with the Robert Edler Prize for Choral Music in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the field of choral music worldwide.
