Kōshō Niwano ( Japanese 庭 野 光 祥 , Niwano Kōshō , civil Mitsuyo Niwano ( 庭 野 光 代 )) is the Vice-President and designated successor to the current President of the Risshō Kōseikai (dt. "Society for the establishment of law and human relations") from the Reiyūkai , a branch of Nichiren Buddhism , emerged as a new religious phenomenon of Japanese Buddhism .

The Buddhist name Kōshō was given to her by her father and grandfather, and she is known to members of the community as Kōshō-sama , where -sama is a salutation for people of high standing.

She is the granddaughter of the founder Nikkyō Niwano (1906-1999) and the eldest daughter of his eldest son, Nichiko Niwano , d. H. of the two successive presidents of the religious community Risshō Kōseikai, which was founded on March 5, 1938 by Nikkyō Niwano (1906-1999) and Myōkō Naganuma (1898-1957).

Kōshō Niwano was appointed in 1994 by the current incumbent president of the community as his successor, according to the succession rule for the future, she will take over the office of president after her father.

She graduated from Gakushūin University Faculty of Law .

At the center of the religious community is the Lotus Sutra , the most important script of Mahayana Buddhism , for which she has also written a book.

She is a representative of Buddhism in the nine-member board of the King Abdullah Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue in Vienna .

She is the mother of four children.
