KBIA is a freelance public radio station on the National Public Radio network in Columbia , Missouri. The program consists of locally produced news shows, self-produced talk shows and NPR news programs such as All Things Considered and the Morning Edition .
The station is owned by the University of Missouri and operates its own independent newsroom. It also serves as a training facility for radio and radio students for the Missouri School of Journalism. The studios are now located in McReynolds Hall, while the transmitter and the transmission technology for KOMU-TV are outside the city.
KBIA-FM won two "National Headliner Awards" in 2017. The award was first awarded in 1935 and was then introduced by the Press Club of Atlantic City. Today the award is one of the most important radio journalism awards in the USA and is awarded for productions by both commercial and non-commercial stations.
