The steam locomotives KEJ 1-3 were narrow-gauge Mallet - steam locomotives , the Danish private railway Kolding-Egtved Jernbane (KEJ) 1897 by the Arnold Jung locomotive factory in Kirchen (Sieg) procured.
Technical data and history
The narrow-gauge locomotives for a gauge of 1000 mm were ordered from Jung in Germany in 1897 in order to have sufficient locomotives available for the construction phase and for operation after the Kolding – Egtved railway line opened on May 4, 1898.
The locomotives with the construction numbers 310-312 were delivered by Jung in 1897. The compound steam locomotives each had two high-pressure and two low-pressure cylinders, Heusinger controls and a suction air brake as a service brake and a screw brake as a handbrake .
After the line was closed and the company was dissolved on May 31, 1930, the locomotives were decommissioned and sold as scrap in the same year . The KEJ 1 and the KEJ 2 went for each 800 kroner for scrapping the Sydjysk Produktforretning , for KEJ 3 could in Haderslev Office Jernbaner be redeemed 900 crowns.
