KJS (KDE)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

KJS is the JavaScript implementation of the K Desktop Environment . It was originally developed by Harri Porten for KDE's web browser Konqueror , where it, together with the HTML rendering engine KHTML, takes care of the display of websites.

Apple Inc. adopted it to support JavaScript in its Mac OS X operating system and developed it further as a spin-off called JavaScriptCore, as Apple announced on June 13, 2002. In the meantime, JavaScriptCore was developed together with WebCore, a spin-off from KHTML , in the WebKit project to SquirrelFish and further to SquirrelFish Extreme and used for the Safari web browser .
