KLIWA

KLIWA ( Keli maveränderung and consequences for Wa sserwirtschaft) is a cooperation of the German Weather Service (DWD), the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, Food, Wine and Forestry Rheinland-Pfalz (MULEWF RLP), the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy Baden-Württemberg (UM BW) and the Bavarian State Ministry for Environment and Health (BayStMUG).

In the cooperation agreement of December 1998 it was recognized that as a result of the man-made greenhouse effect, an increase in temperature and this - not negligible - climate change will also "have significant effects on the water balance ".

Because of the ignorance at that time about "how changes in the water balance will or can affect the various areas of water management " and the lack of "figures, data and facts", especially about medium and long-term developments ( time series ), "a longer-term area - and interdisciplinary cooperation "agreed.
