Junko Sakurada

Junko Sakurada ( Japanese桜 田 淳 子Sakurada Junko ; born April 14, 1958 in Akita ) is a Japanese actress and singer .

Life

In 1972 she made her debut as a singer. At the same time she became known in Japan as an actress in the television series Star Tanjō . Since then she has acted in numerous films and television series and also worked as a presenter.

In the adventure film The Bear Catcher from 1987, she played alongside Takahiro Tamura . She won the Hochi Film Prize and the Kinema Junpo Prize for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this film . She was also nominated for the Japanese Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, but had to admit defeat to Rino Katase ( Yoshiwara enjo and Gokudo no onna-tachi 2 ). The following year she was nominated again for the Japanese Academy Award in the same category for the film Hana no furu gogo by director Kazuki Omori . In 1990 she played, like Kōji Yakusho , in the Japanese-Soviet coproduction The White Wolf . She also played a supporting role in Shinji Sōmai's drama Ohikkoshi , for which she was awarded the Kinema Junpo Prize and the Hochi Film Prize and at the Mainichi Film Competition .

She ended her career in the mid-1990s.
