The Mainichi Eiga Concours ( Japanese 毎 日 映 画 コ ン ク ー ル , mainichi eiga konkūru , German “Mainichi Film Competition”) has been an annual event since 1947 at which the Mainichi Shimbun daily newspaper awards film prizes.

The competition was first held in 1935 as the Zennihon Eiga Concours ( 全 日本 映 画 コ ン ク ー ル , "National Japanese Film Competition"). In this Watanabe Kunios film Uramachi no kōkyōgaku the main prize and the actress Natsukawa Shizue awarded a special prize. The competition was not continued in the next few years due to the political situation. In 1947 the competition was restarted under its current name; the films from the previous year received awards.
