Joseba Llorente Etxarri (born November 24, 1979 in Hondarribia , Basque Country ) is a Spanish football player .

Player career

The beginnings

Joseba Llorente comes from the youth of the traditional Basque club Real Sociedad . For the "Txuri Urdin" he first played in the B-Team in 1998/99, before he was able to achieve four goals in 23 games in the Primera División between 1999 and 2003. In the 2000/01 season Llorente was loaned to the second division SD Eibar . His greatest success was the runner-up championship with Real Sociedad in 2003, before he left the club in the summer of the same year and stayed in Eibar for good. After two failed attempts to rise, he went to league rivals Real Valladolid in the summer of 2005 .

Real Valladolid

In Valladolid Llorente was able to establish himself as a successful goalscorer and earn a regular place. With his goals he made a significant contribution to the rise of his team in 2006/07. He was also successful in the Primera División with twelve goals after the first half of the 2007/08 season. On January 20, 2008 he scored the fastest goal of all time in the history of the Primera División in the league game against Espanyol Barcelona (after 7.82 seconds).

Villarreal CF

In the summer of 2008 Joseba Llorente signed a contract with the runner-up and UEFA Champions League participant FC Villarreal .
