The Neustadt in Holstein camp external command was one of the external work assignments of the Neuengamme concentration camp and thus one of its satellite camps . It consisted of 15 concentration camp prisoners who were deployed for construction work in Neustadt in Holstein from December 1944 to May 1, 1945 .

history

In 1944, the Wehrmacht High Command commissioned a hospital barrack complex, which was built as part of the Todt Organization in Neustadt in Holstein.

The SS selected around 15 male concentration camp prisoners from Neuengamme and assigned them to the SS construction management in Neustadt . These 15 prisoners had to build a hospital for the SS in the last months of the Second World War .

Hardly any records exist about these 15 concentration camp inmates and their work detachments, so the working conditions and the location of the inmates are unknown. Little is known about the further fate of the prisoners either. According to the Neuengamme Memorial, it is believed that they were brought to the Baltic Sea by ship called “West Prussia”.

After the end of the war

After the end of the war, the city of Neustadt decided that the SS military hospital should be retained and incorporated it into the new hospital.

In 2005 all the barracks were demolished. There are no memorials or references at the site of the former external command.
