Inge Borde-Klein

Inge Borde-Klein (born March 18, 1917 in Berlin ; † April 21, 2006 there ) was a German puppeteer and author .

Life

Inge Borde-Klein, daughter of a Charlottenburg bank employee, was born in Berlin and grew up in Hamburg and Bremen. She studied music in Berlin and worked as a violinist and music educator for several years. After 1945 she came into contact with puppetry rather by chance.

Inge Borde-Klein was one of the first members of the German center of the international puppeteers association UNIMA (Union Internationale de la Marionette) and was a long-term UNIMA honorary member. She was also a co-founder of the renowned Puppet Theater Berlin .

During the GDR era, Borde-Klein was one of the best-known authors of non-fiction books on the subject of puppet theater and the author of numerous puppet theater texts. Her main interest was in adult games in front of children.

Borde-Klein was married to the writer Eduard Klein , with whom she also published several books. She died in Berlin in 2006 at the age of 89 .

She is buried with her husband in the Friedrichsfelde central cemetery in the row of artists' graves.
