history

Duke Eberhard III. Immediately before his death von Württemberg had decreed that each of his later sons should have their own princely residence and a paragium . His third son Friedrich Carl was to receive the Winnental Castle. With this, Friedrich Carl founded the Württemberg-Winnental sideline. At the age of 25, his father's regulations came into effect for him.

The line became the new main line when Friedrich Carl's son, Carl Alexander , inherited the former main line of Württemberg in 1733. From the line Winnental all come today existing lines and members of the House of Württemberg (cf.. Master list of the House of Württemberg ).
