The cadet pond in the Milchborntal

The Kadettenweiher is a former bathing lake for the cadets of the cadet institute of Bensberg Castle . It is located in the Milchborntal in the Bergisch Gladbach district of Bensberg and is fed by the Milchbornbach .

history

As early as 1851, the cadet institute began buying land behind Bensberg Castle. This also included the area of the cadet pond, because the bathing pond near the castle, acquired in 1844, had to be abandoned for the construction of several buildings. In the 19th century the cadet pond was used for training purposes by the cadets with its water that is certainly quite cold even in summer. This was no longer necessary after the cadet institute built an indoor swimming pool next to the castle at the beginning of the 20th century.
