Kaffa (people)

The Kaffa , also known as Kafa , Manko or Kefitsho , are a people in the region of the southern nations, nationalities and peoples in south-western Ethiopia . They were the national people in the historical kingdom of Kaffa .

Their total number is 500,000 and accounts for around 1% of the population of Ethiopia . They are predominantly followers of traditional African religions and Muslims, around 25% of the Kaffa are Christians. Their language is kaffa , which is one of the omotic languages within the Afro-Asian language family . The dialects of the Kaffa are the Caffa and the Bosha (also called Garo).
