Kai-Ming Ho

Kai-Ming Ho (born before 1973) is a Chinese American physicist.

Ho graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a bachelor's degree in physics in 1973 and received his PhD in 1978 from the University of California, Berkeley , with Marvin Cohen . As a post-doctoral student he was at the Ames Laboratory at Iowa State University, where he was permanently employed in 1980 and has been a senior scientist since 1988. In 1982 he became an Assistant Professor, 1985 Associate Professor and 1988 Professor at Iowa State University , where he is a Distinguished Professor.

In 1984 and 1988 he was a visiting scientist at the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center.

He deals with molecular dynamics simulations in solid state physics, especially clusters and surfaces, simulation on multiple scales, photonic crystals, genetic algorithms for geometric optimization and protein structure and dynamics.

In 2012 he received the Aneesur Rahman Prize for pioneering work in the development of computational physics of photonic crystals and the structure of atom clusters (laudation). He is a fellow of the American Physical Society .
