Kaiser Franz Joseph Jubilee March

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Jubilee-March is a march by Johann Strauss Sohn (without opus number). It may have been performed for the first time on November 27, 1898 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The march was written on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Emperor Franz Joseph I and represents a homage to the monarch. It is striking that the trio of the march was incorporated into the March Auf's Korn (op. 478). Both marches are therefore similar and there is some uncertainty as to which march was actually played in the Musikverein on November 27, 1898 and whether this march was played at all. It soon disappeared in the archives. The sheet music on which the CD recording mentioned below is based also comes from the Vienna City and State Library.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 2 minutes and 49 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
