Kakskerta [ ˈkɑkskɛrtɑ ] is an island in the archipelago off the southwest coast of Finland and a district of Turku . It is located about 9 kilometers south of the city center of Turku and has an area of 21 square kilometers. With only 633 inhabitants (2004), the island is sparsely populated and is a popular recreational area for the people of Turku. In the middle of the island is the long Kakskerranjärvi Lake.
Kakskerta was incorporated into Turku in 1968. It had previously formed its own community , which also included the neighboring island of Satava to the north . There is a built in 1765-1769 on Kakskerta stone church and the neo-classical manor Brink Hall (1793).
