Kala / Balge is a Local Government Area (LGA) in Borno State, Nigeria . It is Nigeria's easternmost LGA. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Rann.

Kala / Balge has an area of ​​1,896 km² and a population of 60,797 at the 2006 census. The zip code is 611103.

Kala / Balge is one of sixteen LGAs that make up the Dikwa Emirate, a traditional Nigerian state in the state of Borno.

history

On May 14, 2014, local vigilante groups fended off a raid by the Boko Haram terrorist group . On May 31, 500 Boko Haram terrorists returned, overwhelmed the vigilante group and killed 40. Boko Haram jihadists killed at least 11 people in an attack on a military camp in Rann in March 2018.
