from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalabagh is a city in the Mianwali District in the Punjab Province of Pakistan . The Awan Maliks ( Pashtun tribal chiefs) of Kalabagh were recognized as nawabs by Timur Shah Durrani in the late 18th century . In 1822 the area was conquered by the Sikhs . After the British victory over the Sikhs in 1849, the nawab was enfeoffed with the Jagir Kalabagh in gratitude for his support, but no longer received the status of prince . The 7th Nawab of Kalabagh, Malik Amir Muhammad Khan, was governor of West Pakistan from 1960 to 1966, which was divided into Punjab and Sind in 1970 ( written as Sindh since 1990 ).

In Kalabagh there is a salt mine with high quality halite deposits , the purity of which has led to an increase in the amount of mining .
