description

Kalsarikännit contains exactly this concept and thus differs from other country-specific forms of relaxation (such as Dolce far niente , Lagom , hygge and Niksen ) because it neither pretends to do nothing, nor does it focus solely on a certain ambience. Kalsarikännit emphasizes drinking alcohol only at first glance; What is actually meant is the informality of their own leisure activities, which everyone can do independently of friends or other options.

Kalsarikännit has been an established Finnish word for many years. Kalsarikännit was discussed in more detail internationally and Europe-wide for the first time in March 2017, remained in conversation in 2018 and in 2019 as part of the Niksen trend for comparison and rediscovered. The book by Miska Rantanen also contributed to its popularity.
