Niksen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Niksen is the Dutch word for "doing nothing" and has been used increasingly as a buzz word for a popular, relaxed lifestyle since 2019 .

The Niksen is comparable to the Dolce far niente (Italy), kalsarikännit (Finland), Lagom (Sweden) and hygge (Denmark).

The first reports about the Niksen as a so-called “Dutch peculiarity” come from Vogue and Time Magazine from July 2019. Further international reports were followed by articles in German media.
