Kaltenhausen (Töplitz)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kaltenhausen is a peninsula of the Töplitz island formed by the Havel in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district .

location

Kaltenhausen is located on the western part of the Havel island Töplitz, near the village of Göttin . It is bordered by the Havel, the Göttinsee and on the mainland by meadows and fields. The Havel section at this point is marked with the number 1 of the Potsdam Havel. Kaltenhausen belongs to the district of Göttin and the district of Neu-Töplitz. A dirt road leads across the peninsula, from where you have a beautiful view of the Havel.

Landscape structure and agriculture

A small elevation that is completely covered by fields extends over Kaltenhausen. At the edge of the elevation, meadows extend to the shore. Thus the entire peninsula is used for agriculture. There are only a few trees, most of them are on the path that runs along the shores of Lake Göttin.

Slavic castle

At the tip of the peninsula there was a Slavic rampart , of which, however, nothing can be seen today.

Naming

The name probably comes from the fact that it was always much colder in winter in Kaltenhausen than on the rest of the island of Töplitz. This is due to the special location, because in winter the wind blows over the cold treeless meadows on the other side of the Havel unchecked over the Havel towards Kaltenhausen.
