Mighty Samson is a comic series from the US publisher Gold Key (later: Whitman).

Samson was born in New York, which was largely destroyed by aliens in a nuclear attack. People now call the place N'Yark . Just as many species from fauna and flora literally mutated into monsters, Samson is also changed by mutation. He's the strength of eight men. Thanks to his strength and intelligence and with the help of Mindor, an old scientist, and his daughter Charmaine, he faces all dangers in the harsh world of the future. He loses an eye in a fight with a giant lion bear .

The comic series Mighty Samson first appeared in 31 editions from 1964 to 1976 by Gold Key Verlag in the USA. The successor publisher Whitman published No. 32 in 1982, which contained a reprint of Edition 3, and in the same year appeared in of the series Gold Key Champion with the number 2 one last, new adventure with the title hero Samson.

These stories have been reprinted in hardcover format in the Mighty Samson Archives series since 2010 .

The draftsman of the notebooks was initially Frank Thorne; Jack Sparling was then responsible for the artistically possibly most demanding period . The late editions were designed by Jose Delbo, Jack Abel and Don Heck.

From 2010 new stories will be published in booklet format by the US publisher Dark Horse . Author is Jim Shooter , who also writes other resurrected Gold Key series such as Doctor Solar Man Of The Atom, Magnus Robot Fighter and Turok Son Of Stone . Drawers are Patrick Olliffe, Raymond Swanland and Dan Jackson.

In Germany the series Samson was published by Bildschriften Verlag (BSV). From 1966 to 1970, issue no. 1 to 16. These 16 issues were reprinted by Breling Verlag or Norbert Hethke Verlag .

From 1978 to 1982 The Mighty Samson was published in the paperback series Die Actionhelden in Condor Verlag together with other heroes from the BSV ( Turok , Astronaut Family Robinson , Dagar, Magnus - Robot Fighter ). The stories and titles were strung together in the TBs in changing order. 14 TBs came out, but the first was titled The Superheroes .
