The Roman Catholic Kalvarienbergkirche Wels is located in Kalvarienberggasse in the town of Wels in Upper Austria . It is a branch church of the parish of Wels in the deanery Wels-Stadt in the Diocese of Linz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

In the years 1715/16 the baroque Kalvarienbergkirche was built according to plans by the Linz builder Johann Michael Prunner by Wolfgang Grinzenberger from Wels in gratitude for the averted plague. A raised hill over a former Roman wall served as the foundation. From 1977 to 1981 the church was extensively renovated.
